John McCain has proven geography is not his strong point. First, on three different occasions he’s referred to Czechoslovakia, as follows.
2007:
“The first thing I would do is make sure that we have a missile defense system in place in Czechoslovakia and Poland, and I don’t care what his objections are to it.”
2008:
“I would work closely with Czechoslovakia and Poland. . . .”
“I was concerned about a couple of steps that the Russian government took in the last several days. One was reducing the energy supplies to Czechoslovakia. Apparently that is in reaction to the Czech’s agreement with us concerning missile defense, and again some of the Russian now announcement they are now retargeting new targets, something they abandoned at the end of the Cold War, is also a concern.”
Wow. McCain sure has a lot to say about a country that hasn’t existed for over 15 years. It split up into the Czech Republic and Slovakia on January 1, 1993. Maybe one of his aides should tell him so he can stop making the same mistake. Or maybe they already have and he just can’t remember.
Then, just last week, he made another geography mistake concerning the Middle East.
“I think it’s serious. . . . It’s a serious situation, but there’s a lot of things we need to do. We have a lot of work to do and I’m afraid it’s a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq/Pakistan border.”
Unfortunately for McCain, Iraq and Pakistan don’t share a border. They are separated by a little country called Iran.

Perhaps Americans have just gotten used to having an idiot in the White House and too readily accept McCain’s flubs as nothing new. But we, the American people, should expect more from someone running for President. Especially when that candidate claims to have foreign policy experience. How can he have experience in foreign policy when he doesn’t even know where foreign countries are? Perhaps he should learn to read a map.
Do the world and foreign countries and their geopgraphy matter to qualify as future US President?
Bill Clinton stated this prior to murdering the Serbs that were then being trained by US Special Forces to defend themselves against the Muslims who later were brought into the coutnry and got pilot’s licenses and flew planes into the twin towers. (two of 9/11 terrorists had ties to the group Bill Clinton allowed into the US) Betcha didn’t know that, did you?
Did you really think McCain’s ”gaff” about IRAN being a THE problem between Pakistan and Iraq? Did you REALLY think that was a mistake?
Silly Hollan.. Leave the commentary up to the grown-ups... Go for high score on your games.
I’m not saying this in the light of the Obama vs. McCain circus right now.
I just think that your deliberately impassive question at the end is a blast!
Czecholslavakia will always be the Czechoslavakia (sp?!)...
Religions cannot erase a national boundary.
Iran is the border bewteen the two countries that needs to be removed.
McCain made no mistakes with what he said.. But the terrorist leader of Iran is fuming over the ”dissing”.
