After Obama told a group in Michigan that American’s could save energy by getting regular tune ups and making sure their tires were properly filled with air, McCain’s people jumped on him like a lion on a hyena’s kill.
Since Obama is against offshore drilling, McCain needs to lie in order to turn voters to his side. Even though Obama’s plan could save just as much energy as drilling offshore:
“The study indicates that substantial benefits would accrue if car care facilities systematically offered complimentary tire pressure checks with oil changes including: (i) increased safety by decreasing all crashes and saving more than 100 lives per year, (ii) reduced petroleum consumption by over a billion gallons/year, which would (iia) provide over $4 billion in economic savings for US consumers that could in part be recouped in retail/auto-care facilities, (iib) reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 13.5 million tons and automobile pollution and (iic) enhance national security.”

Despite the scientific facts, McCain still mocks Obama by giving out tire gauges that read “Obama’s Energy Plan” for the low price of $25 campaign contribution. A normal tire gauge costs a few dollars normally.
Now, McCain can mock Obama all he wants, but Obama’s plans have been endorsed by McCain’s pal Joe Liberman, GOP Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and those super liberals over at NASCAR.

While Obama is trying to make American’s responsible for our gas consumption and do something about it, McCain sees this all as a joke. With gas at $4 plus, I’m not laughing and I’m checking my tires.

I don't find it funny that regular tuneups and air checks in tires can save energy. It is an established fact that an untuned engine and improper air pressure in tires burn more fuel. This is serious.
