This week Barrak Obama and John McCain visited Las Vegas, Nevada where both presidential candidates gave a speech about their energy platforms.

McCain’s proposal includes plans to free America from our dependence on foreign oil by lifting the prohibition on offshore drilling, offering a $300 million reward to whoever can design a better electric car battery, and expanding America’s nuclear power plants. His speech was met with protesters who oppose McCain’s endorsement of dumping nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain, a mere 100 miles from Las Vegas.

In contrast, Obama’s speech was protest-free. He outlined his plans for various forms of sustainable energy, including solar, wind and geothermal. All of which can create millions of new jobs and help form a complete new green industry.

Obama also criticized McCain’s energy plan saying, “Time and time again, he has opposed investing in the alternative sources of energy that have helped fuel some of the very same projects and businesses he’s highlighting in this campaign. He’s voted against biofuels. Against solar power. Against wind power.”

solar-panels-farm-energy-757563_59hvv_17836

The Obama campaign has also made a webpage outlining the differences between McCain and Obama’s energy platforms.

It’s clear that America needs to focus on creating new forms of energy. McCain’s plan is simply more dependence on oil, which is going to run out soon, and nuclear power. While nuclear power is cleaner than coal initially, problems arise from used fuel rods that remain radioactive for 10,000 years. They need to be put somewhere.

On the other hand, Obama’s plan calls for America to move away from oil completely and develop sources of energy that are not only clean but renewable.

With the Earth warming at an alarming rate we have some serious environmental problems on our hands. Whose plan would you choose?

ppl can miss it here but I would like to add that there are practical problems with McCain's plan. There is no clear definition of success. It's one thing to say you have invented it, but it is entirely another to develop a car that runs on it efficiently and can be used on modern day roads with modern day safety standards. McCain's plan is only for a few people to claim a prize which will not produce an effective end result. There are better ways to promote such a solution, and Obama has out-lined them in his energy plan. But I guess you haven't paid any attention to that, have you?

Bill.. We have it going on right now. Many answers and many alternatives to the need for crude oil. The gov’t needs the tax revenue from the oil sales to keep afloat. McCain is making things work around that by doing things correctly!
PLEASE, ’my friend’, read the 3R plan, learnit and I am sure you will love it. It answers all the concerns and we are set in place to make this happen within 2009 through 2011.

This is HUGE and beyond the scope of what many people can comprehend. The energy taxes must be accounted for by the sheer volume of new private enterprise and publicly traded business before we can get rid of OIL.

McCain’s 3R plan does just that and so much more... Please take a look, friend. We are in this together.

Actually, I think McCain’s plan is terrible. I live in Las Vegas, and I don’t want Yucca Mt. being used as a repository for nuclear waste. Also, I don’t think his $300 prize is a good idea. Not that I’m against electric cars, but it’s where the electricity comes from that’s an issue. I also included a link to Obama’s energy plan, because I’m one of those crazy liberal democrats that actually like the planet Earth.

Obama and his fellow Democrats criticize every McCain energy proposal. They do so because to agree would alienate the environmentalists, big oil haters and the liberals that see drilling and nuclear as too dangerous to use. Obama’s proposal is to shut down the speculators, conserve, and spend 10 billion a year on alternative energy in hopes a good one is found. Obama will also have to have strict price controls to keep the oil companies from passing the tax hike on to consumers. My biggest concern is his liberal ideology; he is stuck with it, otherwise he loses his base. The only change we might see resulting in his energy policy is more Americans owning and riding bicycles.

What’s wrong with riding bikes? Reducing CO2 emissions. No, the horror! Come on. There are already good sources of alternate energy, all of which I mentioned in the post. Las Vegas is opening a new geothermal plant. And look at Germany who uses a lot of solar energy. In fact, private citizens can sell their extra energy to the power companies in Germany.

this is for Obama, yeah you can ridicule McCains plans, so what special are you gonna do? you always talk in general, never gets to specific. no matter you wini this election, Obama it will all be on you and guess what, you will not solve this problem or any other this country has. you all the politician are the same and there is only one thing different about you: the color of your skin, otherwise you promise the same kind of things that every candidate in the past has promised.

Mccain's plans me not be that much effective, perhaps are not, and obama is too quick indeed to put down his plans. However, US has yet to see Obama with any kind of plan or remedy to bring the oil prices down. I give it to McCain for trying to put the wheels in motion. I loved his the big battery competition idea. Most innovative inventions come from small time garage type of inventors.

Iam for McCain. he has at least laid out realistic energy plans. The liberals ideas of don't increase production, sue OPEC, subsidize poor ideas like corn ethanol (of course come to find a lot of money makes it to their pockets from this industry) and talk about ideas without producing any solutions is a joke. People say McCain is "pandering" how about all the liberals pandering to their environmental activist radicals who talk about all the problems without coming up with solutions.

I don’t agree with ideas like corn ethanol, because it also ruins the environment. Why is actually caring about the planet radical? There are clean energy solutions out there and the US needs to learn to subsist off of them. Unless you want a lovely ocean view from your home in Phoenix.

McCain’s plans do nothing to help the nation. Offshore drilling should not start until there is a something that doesn’t require as much oil as we need today. Otherwise, in two to ten years, who ever is president is going to be royally f*ed.

$300 million is far too much for something, if it is used AND affordable, for something that someone should be trying to invent anyways. Do you know how of a killing the person/company will make when they patent the thing? The battery will not help enough people to be worth that much of taxpayer money. It’s not even worth the standard $1 million dollars that other contest have awarded.

Expanding nuclear power plants is the only viable solution in his plans, but it’s not worth the price for the other two. I’m not saying Obama automatically will be getting my vote. He has made a few decisions that make me cautious of him now. However, the biggest issue that I’m concerned with, McCain also made the same decision. Therefore, Obama is still far the lesser of two evils, but a third party candidate may actually have a chance to win this election.

Brian, we have so muchgoing on right now, that when McCain is elected we will have thousands of new jobs in readily created throughthe private sector plus tens of thousands more within the 2009-10.
They are all green energy jobs for the most part, but other American businesses will prosper as the new contruction, new USA mfg and new infrastructure to make this work will open up.
This is beyond the aspect of voting for hype and deals with real plans thatare being dealt with now and prepared for 2009. McCain’s outline allows this to happen, Obama’s regualtions against businesses and tax plans to take fund away from people who earn a living while giving it to dead beats will crush this plan AND America.

We really need Progressive McCain.

JOHN McCAIN’S 3R ECONOMIC PLAN 2008
Abbreviated version

Progressive Republican Candidate John McCain comes through for America with his 3R economic plan. In the persona of Theodore Roosevelt, McCain’s plan just makes sense.

1. RETHINK: America must see globally on what America is capable of in our current state of technology, engineering and meet the demands that face the world.

“RE-Think” the basic job goals involve the dwindling retirement, health care and social security plans that are failing Americans. With a strong base and a higher Gross Domestic Product (GDP) America has a new bargaining chip in the way we live and the ways we retire.

Private Sector framework is in place and current laws allow the 3R to happen. The Progressive attitude of John McCain to get things done by crossing party lines will resurrect America.

2. REFORM: The American people must demand higher quality products and less restricted trade routes for Made in USA components. We will lead the way of MFG again!

The USA will reform its dead manufacturing base to create the most innovative and green-engineered products possible. We will compete in a world market along with other high quality products. Our Private Sector teams are making this reality now.

3. REINVENT: America and Americans must reinvent themselves to reach and maintain these standards and by sheer American ingenuity, control the world’s marketplace in the competitive manner, as the USA has always been proud to be #1.

Americans are going back to McCain’s 3R-schooling program where they are paid to reinvent their skills and learn new skills to design and lead their personal LLC, Corporation or joint venture company. That’s easy enough to comprehend and just as easy to implement. The 3R plan is designed as a six-month rapid advancement system. Graduates may return for additional skill enhancements from time to time, or step up after new advanced training in executive mngmnt.

NUTS AND BOLTS of the plan are simple.

Green Engineering firms with actual answers to viable fossil fuel free transportation and climate control for homes and office have products that will save end users billions per year have finally realized why these ideas have always been avoided. Billions of savings equates to millions of lost tax revenue from energy companies.

Here is the John McCain 3R solution.

McCain’s 3R is about technical, closely monitored and rapid hands on training from pros to create new pros. Thousands of currently-job-displaced “once leaders in the manufacturing arena” will be asked to train and play instructor rolls in the 3R plan. Paid, of course, as these new leaders will help create a whole new style of prosperous America.

Creating a new guard for Social Security.

While manufacturing is a very important part of this plan, thousands of other new businesses must to be created to meet the new surge of 3R manufacturing industries to create a new era of prosperous Americans.

Initial estimates of 1 in 5 students will begin his or her own company and drive even more Americans into a viable lifestyle with real jobs, real benefits and a retirement to look forward to.

This 3R plan will be done without costing taxpayers (or the government) additional funds. America has the means to follow through with John McCain’s 3R plan, ready and in place across the USA. The buildings we need sit vacant for the most part. By assuming leases on abandoned stores and factories across America with MC-3R schools and mini-manufacturing training centers, the USA made products can be sold and support the stores. Building owners write off the loss in taxes over a few years if they donate the space!

This is the new place for financial speculators to invest!

The speculators who first drove the economy with mortgage investments and most recently with crude oil investments have a better arena for their investments. America as nation of industrious individuals who want to work and want to succeed will make them huge profits. The supply of eager Americans with ideas and dreams to prosper is limitless.

Although the thousands of new businesses manufacturing USA Made products is exciting enough, the real excitement comes from the massive amount of additional jobs that will be created to provide the new housing, new buildings, new parks, shopping, grocery stores, schools, government outlets and so much more.

McCain’s Progressive nature embodies Theodore Roosevelt more than any US presidential candidate in history since the original Rough Rider blazed the greatest era of growth in America.

We need John McCain to lead our nation with the same type of change.

Obama’s Totalitarian Regime? Are you kidding me? That’s so alarmist it’s not even funny. You need to really think before you type. Statements like that are, beyond just being false and baseless, crude, ignorant and full of malice. It speaks to your lack of insight and the narrowness of your vision for the future. It’s like me calling Bush or McCain Hitler. I don’t care for either of them (and their vision of the future scares the hell out of me), but I wouldn’t compare them in such a way.

Also, comparing McCain to Teddy Roosevelt is laughable. Roosevelt was a conservationist in his later life. He founded many of America’s national parks and supported the Sierra Club. Look at what the Sierra Club has to say about McCain:

Statement of Carl Pope, Sierra Club Executive Director

”We were appalled two weeks ago when John McCain was the only Senator who chose to skip a crucial vote on the future of clean energy in America-dooming the measure to fail by just a single vote. As it turns out, this was merely the most recent example of a clear pattern of missing the most important votes on energy and the environment–as his abysmal LCV score clearly demonstrates.

”McCain missed votes to save his constituents $499 million dollars at the pump and at least $550 million on their energy bills, while creating more than 10,000 new clean energy jobs in his home state.

”Out of 535 Members of Congress, John McCain is the only one who chose to miss every single key environmental vote scored by the League of Conservation Voters last year. When it came time to stand up and vote for the environment, John McCain was nowhere to be found.

”Every other Member who received a zero from LCV last year at least had the temerity to show up and vote against the environment and clean energy time after time. And unlike John McCain, I doubt any of them would claim to be environmental leaders or champions on global warming.

”The votes chosen by LCV represent the most important votes on the most pressing environmental matters facing us today: energy, global warming, clean water, stewardship of our public lands, and other crucial issues. Republicans and Democrats alike in both chambers received perfect scores of 100 this year, proof that being green isn’t a question of red or blue.

”John McCain’s LCV score exposes the real record behind the rhetoric: a lifetime pattern of voting with polluters and special interests instead of consumers and the planet when it comes time to stand up and be counted. Or perhaps worse yet: a consistent refusal to stand up and be counted at all. We encourage people to contact John McCain and tell him it’s time to start showing up to vote when the environment is on the line.”

Do they sound very friendly toward him?

The trickis not to drop oil immediatly as our governments use the taxes from oil sales tokeep them running. An immediate halt to that would crush gov’ts. That is why McCain’s 3R Plan is so greatly outlined and something that cannot be done through Obama’s anti-personal business plan.
America needs to become the world leader in mfg again, so we can continue to support the world with our give-aways and military support, etc... Whether they act like they like it or not.

The goal is no to just flat out stop the need for crude, but to find another method of brining in revenue and at the same time create millions of new jobs.
McCain’s 3R does this!

McCain has been on the green bus, somthing I am not even though I run a greenengineering mfg company. I run clean, but I scoff at Al GOre’s man made global warming claims... We are in solar cycle 24, that’s the problem.. Even though I hate polution and carbon emissions.

Hello Hollan,

First, let’s be friends...
We are wanting the same thigs here and I truly believe as a business man in my Green Egnineering company, that Obama falls short of being able to provide a future that McCain offers very vigorously with the 3R plan (and yes,
I will refrain from pasting it again!).

Both candidates have things in their past that they could have done better.
As do I and possibly yourself.

We have technology and patents that will allow us to replace gasoline.
I am dead serious here. PATENTED technology and Mealer Companies is making the deal to build plants and offer this to America.
I’d just as soon give it away in my planned home package deals where these untis can fit into garages or in local neighborhood areas.

This would crush the US gov’ts ability to maintain the publics safety (they need the gas taxes).

Please, believe me when I say that McCain’s plan is the only seamless plan that the USA can use right now.

We need to tap the strategic reserves in the short term, but MC vehicles alone will make gasoline and diesel nearly obsolete, although we would not be able to build enough vehicles to get rid of gasline powered cars. Besides, a 70 Hemi Cuda is a cool ride once in a while!

Blatt Soda would power it very cleanly, but gasoline prices would come way down to compete with us.

One cannot be certain if someone just needs a thorough shaking at the shoulder or a slice of apple pie to get their attention.

This is far more complex than it appears and I WILL NOT repost the 3R’s here!

See?? I would have said blah, blah, blah, rather than yada, yada, yada...

Keep in mind, we cannot dump OIL until we find a new way to support the government’s 100 billion dollar tax revenue from oil taxes. (And that doesn;t count how much city and local taxes are taking from us at the pump!).

MEALER COMPANIES and John McCain have that worked out and we are on your side.

I was not referring to you or anyone else who I have commented on or with (lately anyhow) in regards to lack of experience, etc.. except Obama supporters. I was not assuming you were or are an Obama supporter

The message you were ”teasing me about” (and it did not hurt my feelings.. that was a joke), was trying to convey to ”hollan” that we are on the same side and that Hollan needs to look at the big picture rather than the
”Doctor Feel Good outlook” that all Obama supporters have.

I can say this because Obama has no plans whatsoever, except the plans given to him by his special interest leaders, including the AFL CIO, his lawyer team (HUGE INFLUENCE) and hundreds of other way left leaning groups.

No matter what McCain says, he is attacked by everyone, including the religious right groups. McCain’s problem is not his plans as we can see, but his connection to Arizona. Arizonans shoot fromt he hip and let the chips lay where they fall.. ot whatever that cliche is.

Not all people like to hear the truth as we can see fromthe masses following Obama. No offense meant, but this could be contrued as a wake up call.

Once again, we are friends and on the same side, if you can only figure out where you stand. Free to do what you need to do or over-regulated, over-taxed and enslaved?
