The Republican Party in the United States has long been defined by social conservatism. Yet, Republicans also support limited government. Why the hypocrisy?

If Republicans want to limit the government’s control over everyday people’s lives, why do they insist on passing laws that do they very thing they propose to be against? Laws against and abortion are uniformly passed by Republicans and not Democrats. Gay marriage bans are generally a government ban on someone marrying who they want. How is this not too much control by the government? Abortion is even worse as it is the government encroaching on a woman’s body and her right to choose. However, many Republicans have been trying to over turn the watershed decision made in Roe v. Wade for years. A decision that states the government has no control over a woman’s body.
While not all Democrats support gay marriage, they all support gay civil unions. Also, Democrats support abortion up to the second trimester, unless the women’s life is at risk.
I know their are hypocrisies in both parties, but this one seems pretty glaring. How can they cry for less government control and then insist on enforcing control in areas of people’s lives the government has no business being? I guess that’s why I vote Democrat.
